What happened?
The United States has again denied visas to senior Palestinian officials, including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, preventing them from traveling to New York to attend the UN General Assembly in person. This is the second consecutive year that Abbas has been denied a U.S. visa for the UN meeting.
The restrictions also affect officials associated with the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
