Al-Ittihad Club emerged as the champions of the 2024 Saudi Arabia West Region Championship Cup, as announced by the Saudi Hockey Federation on Sunday.
Abdulilah Al-Maimoun, the Federation's CEO, presented the championship cup and gold medals to Al-Ittihad Club following their victory in the championship, held on May 17 and 18.
The tournament, held at the covered sports hall of Al-Ittihad Club in Jeddah, saw Al-Ittihad claim the title, with Sakhi finishing as the runners-up and the United Thalasserry Sports Club team securing third place.
Individual awards were also distributed during the championship ceremony. Ahmed Al-Jundi of Al-Ittihad was recognized as the best player, while Karim Ashraf and Talam Wissam from Jeddah Future received awards for the best goalkeeper and best young player, respectively.
The championship featured 12 matches with 60 players representing six teams. Al-Maimoun expressed satisfaction with the success of the 2024 Saudi Arabia Western Region Championship, stating that it met the federation's objectives of promoting field hockey and generating interest in the sport.
He also affirmed the federation's commitment to organizing similar championships in other cities across the Kingdom to further promote and develop hockey.
