French music streaming platform Deezer has launched a free tool that allows users to detect AI-generated songs in their playlists, including those hosted on major competing services such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and SoundCloud.
Available in 27 languages and compatible with around 20 streaming platforms, the tool analyzes playlists and identifies tracks that have been created using generative artificial intelligence. Users simply connect their streaming account and run a scan to check whether AI-generated music is present in their playlists.
The initiative reflects Deezer’s efforts to increase transparency in the music industry as AI-generated content continues to grow rapidly. According to the company, approximately 75,000 AI-generated tracks are uploaded to its platform every day, accounting for more than 44% of new music uploads.
Deezer also reported that a significant share of users migrating from competing platforms already have AI-generated songs in their playlists. The company has been among the first streaming services to systematically detect and label AI-created music.
Beyond consumer use, Deezer plans to make its detection technology available to other music industry stakeholders in an effort to combat streaming fraud and help protect artists' revenues.
The launch comes as the debate over artificial intelligence in music creation intensifies, raising questions about transparency, copyright, authenticity, and the future role of human artists in the industry
