‘It’s a no-brainer to go where the progress is,’ says Fortune Editor-in-Chief ahead of Riyadh Summit on Women in Business

Riyadh, 2025Fortune Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell has emphasized the growing importance of recognizing regions leading on inclusion and economic transformation — singling out Saudi Arabia — ahead of a major summit on women in business in Riyadh.

Speaking to Arab News, Shontell said:

“It’s a no-brainer to go where the progress is happening. What’s happening in Saudi Arabia right now with women in leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation is remarkable.”

The summit, hosted in the Saudi capital, brings together global female leaders, CEOs, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to discuss challenges and opportunities in advancing gender equality in the corporate world.

Saudi Arabia has seen record participation of women in sectors such as finance, law, tech, and government in recent years, in line with its Vision 2030 agenda.

Shontell added that Fortune’s presence at the summit signals “not just interest, but recognition” of the transformative developments occurring across the Gulf region.
