Yara Shahidi, Arab gowns spotted on the NAACP Awards red carpet in Los Angeles


 The event celebrated the accomplishments of individuals of color in various fields such as film, television, music, and literature, with R&B legend Usher being honored as the entertainer of the year.

Shahidi, known for her role in "Grown-ish" and whose heritage includes Iranian roots, graced the ceremony in an ensemble from Ferragamo's Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Usher's spouse, Jennifer Goicoechea, walked alongside the award recipient in a sophisticated gown from Zuhair Murad's Resort 2024 line. Actress Queen Latifah made a striking appearance in a lilac creation by Georges Hobeika, while model Madisin Rian dazzled in a dramatic burgundy jumpsuit designed by Saiid Kobeisy, complete with an oversized cape and intricate beadwork.

During his acceptance speech, Usher highlighted his recent achievements, including a successful Las Vegas residency, marriage, the release of his ninth studio album "Coming Home," and his record-breaking Super Bowl halftime performance. He was presented with the award by Oprah Winfrey and expressed gratitude to his supporters, dedicating the honor to them.

Usher was also recognized with the President's Award for his philanthropic work through the New Look Foundation, where he acknowledged the pivotal role of the women in his life.

Hosted by Queen Latifah, the ceremony aired live on BET, with "The Color Purple" receiving the award for best motion picture. Additionally, New Edition was inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame for their groundbreaking contributions to the music industry.
